Office Manager

Joined GFD in 2016

Patty is Gentle Family Dentistry's office manager.  She spent 22 years in the military as a dental laboratory technician, leadership school instructor and dental clinic manager.  She has a bachelor's degree in Business Management and is pursuing her masters in Human Resource Management with an emphasis on education and training.  Patty's focus is to ensure the GFD staff has everything they need to provide superior dental care and maximize the patient experience. She has a passion for leadership, team building and loves to teach. And she loves to problem-solve!

Although the military brought Patty and her family to Maryland, they fell in love with Calvert County and decided to put down roots. Originally from northern Maine, she enjoys her four seasons, loves to ski with her husband and two teens and is an avid New England Patriots fan.  She said please do not hold that against her!  She and her husband are having a great time dreaming of a quaint and quiet retirement in Maine.

Financial Coordinator

Joined GFD in 2009

Sam, as she's known around the office, is Gentle Family Dentistry's Financial Coordinator. She has been in the dental industry for almost 18 years. Sam is a wonderful patient advocate who strives to help a patient understand their benefits. She is happy to submit claims to reap the maximum benefit from your plan. Sam takes pride in being a problem-solver, and will answer questions for a patient at any time. Her knowledge of benefits is extensive, and she is a true asset to the practice.

Sam first came to Maryland when her spouse, who was then in the military, transferred to Maryland. Sam grew up in South Jersey, but she and her husband have come to love the Maryland lifestyle and decided to stay. Sam is always active. When not in the office, you will find Sam at the gym, hiking, sewing, playing Xbox, or working on the latest home project with her husband. She loves rustic vacations that include hiking, mountains and pine trees...Colorado is a favorite travel destination of hers.

Angela is our Account and Patient Care Specialist. She has been in the dental field for approximately seven years, but has been in the medical field for 11 years. She is well versed in insurance billing, but we think one of her greatest talents is making a patient smile at check out. She is witty and timely, and is always striving to help patients complete their care in the most economical way possible. And if she can make you laugh while she's scheduling your's a good day!

Angela is originally a New Yorker, but she most recently lived in Florida. She was thrilled to move back up north and enjoy the four seasons again. Angela is loving the wonderful things to do and see that the D.C. area is known for. You can often find Angela staying busy on the weekends...usually playing tourist and exploring or whipping up a batch of cupcakes - take it from us, they are amazing!

Michelle is the first friendly face you will see when you walk through the doors at GFD! She is a Maryland transplant, and we are thrilled she found her way to GFD. Michelle grew up in the Midwest, and came to Maryland when her husband received a military transfer. She has over 25 years in customer service, and we feel she is the perfect Scheduling Coordinator because she believes we should treat patients the way we would want to be treated. Michelle really enjoys relating to our patients on a personal level and makes everyone feel like they are important and welcome.

When not at work, Michelle loves spending time with her twin 14 year old daughters and husband. Family is everything to her. She makes an amazing Peanut Butter Blossom cookie, and has a soft spot for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She is a team player, and loves to join the gang when we plan an outing...whether it is volunteering at the End Hunger warehouse, or cheering on our Dragon Boat team!

Insurance Coordinator

Joined GFD in 2016

Jen is a versatile addition to our team and is getting to get to know our patients very quickly between helping in both the administrative and clinical aspects of our practice. Jen has over five years of experience in the dental field. She has worked in general dentistry and endodontics. Jen loves helping patients overcome their confusion about insurance so she can give our patients maximum benefit with their dental plan. Explaining insurance coverage to a patient in terms they understand is one of her greatest qualities - because insurance can be very confusing!

Jen most recently worked in Bowie, and is very excited to now work so close to home. Jen is a native of the Eastern Shore and is currently stationed in the area with her husband and children. Her husband is a Marine Corp. veteran, and is currently with the Army reserves. Now that Jen works closer to home, she is able to spend more time doing the things she loves, such as baking treats with the kids or doing arts & crafts. Need chocolate? Jen is the one who will surprise you with a treat!

The sun is shining down on us at GFD because Kacie is back! She left us in 2017 when her military husband had a job transfer to Illinois. But the call of the Chesapeake Bay was too much for them to ignore, and they longed to be back in Calvert County. Long story short…her husband retired from the military, they bought back the EXACT same house they lived in before, her girls are over the moon to be back with their old friends, and she’s back at GFD! Tell us that wasn’t meant to be!

Kacie is even back to her old work schedule and fell right back into the travel softball lifestyle with her girls. Life is good for Kacie as she settles into her old routine and gets to enjoy the Chesapeake Bay, Patuxent River and nature trails in Calvert. Plus, she’s a big crab-eater…and there’s nobody that knows crabs like a Marylander (native or transplant).  And her North Dakota sweetness is still the best thing about her!

Sydne is a part-time Dental Assistant at GFD, and we couldn’t be happier to have her! It is virtually impossible to ruffle her feathers…she’s cool as a cucumber! And maybe that comes from the time she spends on the golf course…and she’s really good! (We should really schedule some GFD group golf lessons.)

She is attending dental hygiene school in Baltimore, plus works for us, plus works another PT job, AND fits in time for golf, rescue animals and memory-making adventures with her husband! She loves seafood and Asian cuisine…and says popcorn and chocolate are her favorite snacks. She is excited to be part of the GFD team and is excited about getting involved in the Calvert and So. AA communities!

We are so happy to welcome Laurie, a Certified Dental Assistant with 20 years of experience, to our team! With her infectious laugh and easy-going personality, Laurie has become a valuable part of the team very quickly! Laurie is loving her position at GFD so much, that she’s thinking of giving up the Downtown Annapolis lifestyle to move and become a permanent part of our Southern MD community! Laurie loves the oral surgery aspect of dentistry: implants, extractions …anything challenging.

Laurie is an avid runner who has completed the Baltimore Marathon, Army 10-miler and Marine Corp Marathon. (Laurie – you’ll have to check out our local “260 Running Club”) So it’s no problem for her to easily burn off her two favorite indulgences…Peanut Butter Oreo ice cream and “Poor Man’s Spaghetti” – a family secret recipe!

Laurie is a proud aunt to her older sister’s 3 kids. And here’s a fun fact…Laurie has a second sister that is her twin (her bestie)…they were born on 7/7/77 and born 7 minutes apart – how crazy is that?!

Angel is one of our newest team members and we are thrilled to have her! She has deep community connections, and that makes her a lovely fit for GFD. She is a proud wife to her retired military husband, and we think it's cool she was born in Thailand and has lived all over the world! Her mom is Thai…and when we asked if her mom could give us cooking lessons, Angel replied “she’d just love to cook for you!”

Angel is an artist at heart and is a natural organizer with an eye for fine detail. Angel is a freelance photographer for the North Beach Maryland and Herrington Harbour Marina Resorts – how cool is that?! And Angel is over the moon that she has an article that will be published in America's Civil War Magazine very soon with her photography. When not at work, you can find Angel traveling, hiking and visiting new places. She loves to daytrip to DC with her hubby. And if it’s a stay-at-home kind of night, she’ll be on the couch watching National Treasure!
